Will it sound like a robot when my guests call?
No — it answers in a natural voice. You pick the voice and the greeting during onboarding. We don't recommend trying to pass it off as a human, though: some regions legally require AI callers to disclose, and a short up-front line keeps you on the right side of that. Most callers find it easier than a phone tree either way.
Does it use my existing restaurant phone number?
Yes — that's the most common setup. We route your existing line through Calode so guests dial the same number they always have. If you'd rather keep a separate human line, you can pick a new number through Calode and put the AI on that one instead.
What happens on a complex call, or when a guest asks for the manager?
It hands off. The caller can ask for a person, and calls that fall outside the order or booking flow (complaints, refunds, large private events, custom catering quotes) route to your team. We set the exact routing — which line, which phone, which notification — with you during onboarding.
What languages can it handle?
Multiple — and it detects the caller's language from the first few words. We configure the set for your line during onboarding based on the area you serve, so you only get the languages you actually need.
Does it replace my hostess or my front-of-house team?
No — it backs them up. When your team is on the floor, in the weeds, or already on another line, the AI picks up instead of sending the call to voicemail. The work that was getting missed gets done. Your team keeps doing the human part of hospitality.
Where does a phone order show up after the call?
The order is captured by the AI and sent to your POS for your team to confirm and run payment on — the AI does not take card details on the call. A booking ends up in your Reservations list the same way a web booking would. The dashboard surfaces new AI-captured orders so the team can see them as they come in.
